Prepare for an oversharing post because this family is 100% charisma and narrowing it down this much was quite difficult. You may remember Brooks from his newborn lifestyle photography shoot. A year later he had went from a spindly little guy to a straight up charmer with chubby little legs and the sweetest, drooling smile you can imagine.
Because he was a New Years baby, his parents wanted a New Years themed cake smash. His Nana and mom made him a personalized cake with gilded chocolate accents. The family provided me with some cool New Years Eve theme decorations for his set. Then I added in a glass cake stand, clock face placemat, black seamless backdrop, and a shiny new tub for the cleanup photos.
Normally cake smash sessions don’t include family but his parents had one request – shots of the them in the background celebrating that they successfully made kit through a year of parenting. They brought some (non-alcoholic) Martinelli’s sparkling cider to fake those shots. But it would appear that Brooks liked the cider even more than his first foray into cake smashing. As far as parents go, this little guy won the jackpot. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with them at his shoots and you can see just how much fun they all have together.
After everyone got super messy it was time to give Brooks a bubble bath. He had never really experienced bubbles before and he was in heaven. It was then that I personally learned that bath time on these shoots tends to be even more fun than the cake smashing. Babies love baths! The whole thing left my dining room a disaster but it was 100% worth it for the shots that I got of Brooks and his family. These are still some of my very favorite client memories.
As we draw closer to his 2nd birthday, I hope he’s still living his best life with lots of smiles and fizzy drinks. <3
