Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great day and took time to honor their blessings. As I sit and ponder the things for which I’m thankful today, I definitely noticed a pattern when it comes to my business. The sessions that made my heart the fullest have been those related to parenthood. Newborn sessions have really become my jam but there is so much story before the baby comes that I want to showcase more in the next year. This starts in most cases, of course, with maternity.
Is there anything more beautiful than a glowing mama-to-be? How about a doting daddy-to-be who can’t stop kissing the belly? Put them both next to a waterfall and you’ve got magic! This couple’s Golden Ponds maternity session turned into a fairly lengthy one because we experienced the characteristically confused weather of Colorado. I had been worried because their session looked like it might turn into a rain-out. But the drizzling subsided and we even got a pleasant sunset by the end of the evening. To avoid the dreariness of the threatening rain, we first retreated to the waterfall area where it’s sunken into the ground and protected by trees. This little oasis was a perfect place to begin. They were great sports about it all – including (carefully) moving toward the center of the creek. We got some beautiful portraits of mom in the river. Then together they expressed both their soft and silly sides as they interacted at this great location. The sun started to peak back out and we moved to the trail to explore the namesake ponds. We finished off by enjoying a softly colored sunset by the water.
I’m dying to photograph more beautiful mamas! Maternity photos are the first volume of your child’s birth story. They are also a great way to honor the love and anticipation of parents-to-be. Before your family changes forever (again in some cases), take a moment to basque in the magic of pregnancy and the tremendous beauty of womanhood. Contact me today to book a maternity photography session to commemorate this precious milestone.
