This session was my first with my improved lighting kit. Switching from natural light and/or continuous studio lights to a strobe with a PLM (a.k.a. the 7ft wide umbrella) made a huge difference in the consistency of light I am able to achieve. Goodbye dark, blue images when the sun goes behind a cloud! It also made the quality of light very soft and flattering on these sweet cuddly babies. That makes editing so much easier! Not only was I in heaven with my equipment investment, Baby T’s session was just an all-around awesome one. His family was enjoyable to hang around with and their group pictures felt very natural and fun. The blue velvet chair was in their their living room and I wanted to steal it because it photographed so nicely! The honey-colored wood floors of the upstairs were also perfect for shots of Baby T in the wee bed I had just purchased from TFJ Designs. Mom requested shots with the big elephant plush that belonged to his big brother as well as a panda bear that inspired his nursery. The turquoise booties were made for Baby T by a family friend and we put those on for some of his bean bag poses to honor that gift. We managed to work in all of these different setups and poses in really good time. I definitely walked away happy and I think they were as well!
